Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the things people ask before they reach out. If yours isn't here, call 208-479-1116 or send us a note.

Getting started

How do I make an appointment?

Use the request form or call 208-479-1116. We reply within one business day, and every therapist offers a free 15-minute phone consultation before you book.

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis?

No. If something is getting in the way of your life, that's reason enough. Your therapist will help you understand what's going on as you go.

How do I choose a therapist?

Read the profiles and pick the person who sounds right. If you're not sure, tell us a little about what's going on and we'll match you. You can request a specific therapist on the form.

How long is the wait for a first appointment?

It varies by therapist. Our counseling intern usually has the shortest wait. Ask when you call and we'll tell you honestly.

Sessions

How long is a session?

Standard sessions are about 50 minutes. Some therapists offer longer sessions for EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or couples work.

How often will I come?

Most people start weekly or every other week, then space sessions out as things improve. You and your therapist decide together.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Telehealth by video or phone is available anywhere in Idaho, and you can switch between online and in-person sessions.

What ages do you see?

Children as young as 3, teens, adults, couples, and families. Child and teen therapy uses play therapy for younger clients.

Cost and insurance

Do you take insurance?

Yes, most major plans, including Idaho Medicaid. TriCare is the one plan we can't bill. See the full list on our fees and insurance page.

What if I don't have insurance?

We have a sliding fee scale based on income and family size, reduced-rate sessions with select clinicians, and flexible payment arrangements. No one is turned away because they can't pay.

What does a session cost out of pocket?

Between $80 and $135 depending on the therapist and the type of session. We'll confirm your exact rate before your first appointment.

Do you offer a Good Faith Estimate?

Yes. If you're uninsured or choosing not to use insurance, you're entitled to one before your first appointment under the federal No Surprises Act. Just ask.

Privacy and practical questions

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with the legal exceptions every licensed therapist follows: imminent danger to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order. Your therapist will go over this at your first session.

Where are you located?

6126 W. State Street, Suite 402, Boise, Idaho 83703, in the Plantation Building. Map and directions.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm. Individual therapists have their own schedules, and some offer evening appointments.
