Child and teen therapy in Boise
Kids don't always have the words for what they're feeling. That's why they show it instead: meltdowns, withdrawal, worry, trouble at school. We help them find the words, and help you help them.
Does this sound familiar?
- Meltdowns or anger that seem too big for the situation
- Worry, clinginess, or fears that are getting in the way
- Trouble at school, with friends, or with sleep
- Withdrawal, sadness, or a teen who's shut you out
- Something hard happened, and your child isn't bouncing back
- You're a parent who's out of ideas and exhausted
You don't need to check every box, and you don't need a diagnosis to reach out.
Play therapy for younger children
For kids roughly ages 3 to 12, play is the language. Through play, sand, and art, children express what they can't say, work through experiences, and practice new ways to handle big feelings. It looks like play. It is therapy.
Therapy for teens
Teens need a therapist who takes them seriously and doesn't talk down to them. We work on anxiety, depression, self-harm, identity, school and social stress, and family conflict, with approaches like CBT, DBT skills, EMDR, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy adapted for adolescents.
Parents are part of the plan
You'll never be left in the dark. Your child's therapist will check in with you regularly, share what's helping, and give you practical tools for home. For families with Idaho Medicaid, Community-Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS) can add in-home and community support.

Common questions
What ages do you see?
Children as young as 3 through teens up to 18, plus parents. Katie focuses on ages 3 to 18; Charlene works with children, teens, and adults; Leann sees teens and adults.
Will I be in the room?
For young children, parents are usually involved at the start and end of sessions and in regular parent check-ins. Teens typically meet alone, with parent involvement agreed on together.
Do you accept Medicaid for children?
Yes. We accept Idaho Medicaid and offer CBRS for Medicaid clients. A sliding fee is available for families who qualify. See fees and insurance.
How do I explain therapy to my child?
Keep it simple: "This is a person whose job is helping kids with feelings, and you get to play and talk." Your therapist can give you words that fit your child's age.
Ready when you are.
Reaching out is the hardest step. The rest we'll figure out together.
