Community-Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS) in Boise

Therapy happens in an office for an hour a week. CBRS happens where life happens: at home, at school, in the community, working on the real-world skills that make the rest of the week go better.

Does this sound familiar?

  • A mental health condition makes daily life, housing, or work hard to manage
  • You or your child have Idaho Medicaid and need more than weekly therapy
  • Skills learned in therapy aren't carrying over into real situations
  • You need help connecting to housing, healthcare, benefits, or employment services
  • A child is struggling to function at school or at home because of a mental health diagnosis
  • You want practical, hands-on support, not just talk

You don't need to check every box, and you don't need a diagnosis to reach out.

What CBRS is

Community-Based Rehabilitation Services is an Idaho Medicaid benefit for people whose mental health condition gets in the way of daily functioning. A CBRS provider works with you one-on-one, in your community, on concrete skills: managing symptoms, routines, communication, problem solving, budgeting, getting to appointments, handling school or work.

Who qualifies

CBRS is for adults and children with Idaho Medicaid who have a qualifying mental health diagnosis and a documented need for skills support. It starts with an assessment and a treatment plan. We'll walk you through eligibility and paperwork; you don't need to figure it out first.

How it fits with therapy

Most CBRS clients also see a therapist here, and the two work together: therapy for the underlying concerns, CBRS for building skills and stability day to day. We also help connect you to housing, healthcare, employment, and other community resources.

Therapists who work with this

Each has a different style. Read a profile, pick the person who sounds right, and request an appointment with them directly.

Common questions

Do I have to have Medicaid?

Yes. CBRS is an Idaho Medicaid service. If you don't have Medicaid, we can help you find out whether you qualify, and therapy is still available to you with other insurance or on a sliding fee scale.

Where do sessions happen?

Wherever they're most useful: your home, your child's school, our office, or out in the community practicing a skill in the place you'll actually use it.

Do you offer CBRS for children?

Yes. Katie provides CBRS for children and teens alongside play therapy and parent support, and Cathy, our CBRS intern, works with adults and teens.

How do I get started?

Call 208-479-1116 or use the request form and mention CBRS. We'll set up an assessment and explain what to expect.

Ready when you are.

Reaching out is the hardest step. The rest we'll figure out together.
