Trauma and PTSD therapy in Boise
Trauma isn't only what happened to you. It's what your mind and body are still doing about it. That part can change.
Does this sound familiar?
- Memories, nightmares, or flashbacks that arrive uninvited
- You're jumpy, on guard, or can't relax even when you're safe
- You avoid places, people, or conversations that bring it back
- You feel numb, detached, or like you're watching your life from outside
- Shame, guilt, or self-blame that doesn't match what actually happened
- The same relationship or emotional pattern keeps repeating
You don't need to check every box, and you don't need a diagnosis to reach out.
How trauma therapy works here
You will never be pushed to retell your story before you're ready. We start by building safety and stability, then use methods designed to help the brain finish processing what got stuck. Our therapists work with single-incident trauma, complex and childhood trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and military and first-responder experiences.
EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy
Both are structured, evidence-based approaches that use eye movements to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they lose their charge. EMDR is one of the most researched trauma treatments available. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is designed to work in fewer sessions and doesn't require you to describe the memory out loud. Charlene and Leann are trained in EMDR; Leann is certified in ART.
Trauma-informed care for every age
Children and teens process trauma differently, so we use play, sand, and art therapy alongside EMDR for younger clients. Adults may also benefit from Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal-informed and somatic work, and DBT skills for managing overwhelming emotions.

Common questions
Do I have to talk about what happened?
Not in detail, and not before you're ready. Some approaches, like Accelerated Resolution Therapy, don't require you to describe the memory at all.
How many sessions does EMDR or ART take?
A single-incident trauma can sometimes resolve in a handful of sessions. Complex or long-standing trauma takes longer. Your therapist will give you an honest estimate after your first couple of visits.
Do you work with children who have been through trauma?
Yes. Charlene and Katie both work with children and teens, using play therapy and EMDR adapted for younger clients.
Is this covered by insurance?
Yes for most plans, including Idaho Medicaid. See fees and insurance.
